trying to spend some more time streaming

There is something I have been meaning to do more often than I have been doing lately, and that is streaming. I enjoy streaming very much on my Twitch and YouTube channels, and for some reason, I don't do it nearly as much as I should. I am going to be fixing that this week, though, beginning tonight.

I am quite close to being able to qualify for Affiliate on Twitch, and I am aiming to qualify for it by the time this month is up. I have enough followers to qualify for it on the platform, just have to hit the required amount of streaming hours. Looking forward to streaming tonight, tomorrow, and some more over this coming week and hitting the numbers we need to get affiliate and continue to build out our stream!

Two of my friends have been streaming more often and it has made me realize how much more often I need to be doing it, too. I am not interested necessarily in the making money part of it, since that is unlikely to happen in huge amounts, and even if it did, I want to be enjoying it! So I do all my streaming stuff for the fun of it, and for sharing whatever I'm playing or working on with whoever wants to watch! The "path to affiliate" is simply a fun way to grow on Twitch, in my opinion.

I began streaming in 2019 as a way to get over not liking public speaking. It was hard for me to "get up in front of people" as it were, my whole life. But I've always known if I want to be more comfortable on stage playing music or giving a technical talk to a crowd at a conference or something like that, I need to be more comfortable when it comes to public speaking. I have never liked being in front of people, and so I have always used streaming as a way to improve on that issue. It has worked a lot, and where I used to not be comfortable being in front of my webcam and making videos and streams, now I enjoy it greatly.

I have made some cool friends online thanks to streaming and doing Twitch and Youtube, and some of my "IRL" friends joining in the fray has encouraged me to do it more often as well, so I certainly intend to do just that. My buddy, natdrevis and I were talking about doing some streams together, and I can see us maybe doing some Fortnite on-stream, since it is one of the games we play the most together. Going to test it out tonight and see how it goes. Should be good fun. We have a lot of good games together and have been working as a team online since back when I lived in Oklahoma!

In short, this was not meant to be a big update, but just something to let you know I am planning on streaming more often again, and if you want to participate in the streams, I will be making sure to post about it soon. As usual, going to be playing some FOSS and indie games on the stream, getting some work done, and just hanging out like we tend to do sometimes. I might build a special "stream announcement" or schedule area somewhere on this site sometime so people can easily see when the next stream is going to be.
