taco salad

a delicious, spicy taco salad for when you want a tasty Mexican night

I have always had a soft spot for Mexican food, and one of the dishes I love to make the most is a tasty taco salad. It has a good balance of ingredients and spices, and can be topped off with some tasty salsa and herbs. It's sure to get your mouth watering!

ingredients

cooking instructions

  1. Using a large skillet, heat your olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and saute' it for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in your minced garlic, bell peppers, and jalapenos. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until your peppers get a bit tender.
  4. Add your ground beef into the skillet. Cook it, breaking it apart with a spatula, until it is browned and cooked through.
  5. You can drain any excess fat if needed.
  6. Stir in your taco seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well, and cook for another few minutes to allow the flavorings to meld together.
  7. In a serving bowl, place your lettuce in the bottom as a base.
  8. Begin topping the lettuce with the taco meat and veggie mixture.
  9. Drizzle some salsa over the top of the taco salad, and garnish it with chopped cilantro to taste.
  10. Finally, add in any other optional ingredients, such as shredded cheese, sour cream, tortilla chips, or avocado.
  11. Serve immediately, and enjoy!

This has been the main way I have made my taco salad for a long time now. It is one of my "go-to" meals when I can't think of anything else to cook, and it is always a hit with guests or family members. If you make it, we hope you like it, as well!
